The LifeLink™ system uses the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) developed wireless Ethernet network deployed along the San Antonio freeway system. This system transmits video, audio, and patient vitals data from a moving ambulance to a hospital for doctor consult/preparation during initial medical treatment. The deployed wireless Ethernet network was designed and tested at the SwRI test track facilities.
The unique LifeLink deployment provides a "cell" environment using Ethernet radios, allowing handoffs between roadside access points and ambulances moving at high rates of speed. The figures to the right show typical configurations of LifeLink equipment in an ambulance and at a hospital node.
For more information about our LifeLink Mobile Video System capabilities, or how you can contract with SwRI, please contact Sterling Kinkler at skinkler@swri.org or (210) 522-3478. We can offer you the best approach for developing your LifeLink Mobile Video System.
